Windows 7

So I pulled out one of the old company laptops to use for some random thing, and installed a copy of windows 7 on it, as that’s how old it is.

We moved to Windows 10 long ago here,  and actively purged Windows 7.

I forgot how awesome it was… no waiting, no candy crush, no “I can remind you to buy lunch meat”, no you need to run this critical update that does nothing right now while you are trying to get stuff done.

it just starts and works..

so refreshing..

Well that did not last long.

No it’s not important.. don’t “excuse me”.. I don’t want to update. I just want to use windows 7.

Steven Hawkins is Awesome

Yesterday, Steven Hawkins died, which made me very sad. I have never met him, but have read most of his books, and listened to most of his lectures.

He will be missed.

For SCIENCE!

Cast 430L Sales brochures

I found some original sales brochures for the Cast . It’s interesting the subtle differences like the intake moving from one side to the other.

I wish I had the original pad, but it’s long gone.

Interestingly the problem I’ve had with the steering is touted as a sales feature here.

Laserfiche workflows

Today has been a Laserfiche day…

I’ve been updating workflows and forms, in order to get the business I’m working for to spend less time doing lame tasks.

Do you not know what Laserfiche is?

Imagine  that file cabinet full of papers that you hate but have to keep. Put it all online, indexed and searchable.

Then add a magic reminder that you have to look at this thing because Bob messed it up, or Sally completed her part and now it’s your turn.

Then add document removal… purging all of that clutter out of there at the time you don’t need it. If you’ve ever worked in accounting… remember the 7 year purge and rejoyce.

Check it out and then follow up for a demo.

Tractor fun

This weekend was the first time I got the tractor up and running. It’s a 1960’s era CAST 430L, so finding parts is not easy at best. I so far have made great use of the lathe and the mill to bring it up to snuff.

It worked flawlessly as a land smoother… next step is to get the front end loader part working.  I’m going to start posting more information about mine, as there is not many left as I go.

Cast 430L’s work.
